David Spruill is an Associate Professor in the Department of Counselor Education at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He graduated from the University of Florida in Counselor Education with a specialization in marriage and family therapy. Prior to coming to Lafayette, Dr. Spruill was a counselor educator at LSU and at the University of Mississippi. He is a LMFT and LMFT-S, a LPC and a LPS-S, a LMFT in Florida, and a Clinical Member of AAMFT.

Dr. Spruill has served in a variety of leadership positions, including President of the Louisiana Counseling Association, and President of the Louisiana Association for Counselor Education and Supervision. He also served as Secretary of the Mississippi Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Dr. Spruill has been an active participant in governmental issues, serving as co-chair of the LCA Government Relations Committee, and is currently an active participant on the LAMFT Legislative Issues Committee. In 2009, Dr. Spruill received the Distinguished Professional Service Award from the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision.
